Preparing healthy snacks for your kids doesn’t have to be difficult - or boring. You can fill two needs with one deed, and turn it into a fun activity for you both. Here are some healthy, quick and easy snack ideas, that you can make at home with your kids.

Absolute Organic Healthy Popcorn
Healthy popcorn? Yes. This organic popcorn is a far cry from the sodium-laden buckets of popcorn you may find at the cinema. As well as being certified organic, it’s Australian made, and GMO free. It’s also a fun way to add some fibre to your child’s diet. All you have to do is melt some butter or oil in a saucepan, add the popping corn kernels, cover, and wait a few minutes! Listening to corn kernels pop never loses its appeal, no matter how old you are!
You can top your popcorn with a little bit of salt, a sprinkle of sugar, or even turn it into a healthy trail mix. Add some dried fruit such as cranberries or apricots, and nuts like almonds or cashews. You can find a great range of organic nuts and dried fruits in the Jim’s Home Fresh pantry.
Baked Apple Chips
If you’ve never made apple chips, now’s the perfect time. Apples are in season, and at Jim’s Home Fresh, we’ve got some of the freshest you’ll find. Unwaxed and straight from the market, include apples in your next order so you can try this one at home.
Baked apple chips are simple to make and much healthier than regular chips! All you need to do is slice your apples thinly – a mandolin is good for this. Sprinkle them with some cinnamon, and bake them in the oven at about 110 degrees Celsius, for a couple of hours (one hour each side), until crispy!
Fruity Icy Poles
A little bit naughty, a little bit nice. Fruit icy poles are a great sunny day treat. They also look impressive and are super easy to make. All you need is some fresh fruit, a sweet beverage like lemonade or grape juice, and some moulds. First, choose your favourite fruits, such as strawberries, kiwi, blueberries, raspberries, pineapple, or anything you want. Chop them into smaller chunks, place in the moulds, and fill up with your juice or lemonade. Place in the freezer until frozen. Enjoy!
You can also try this with yoghurt instead of juice or lemonade. Just add fruit and freeze!
